The Feedback Loop That Makes Enterprise AI Smarter Over Time

Your enterprise AI answers a question about customer contract terms. The answer is wrong. A salesperson notices, corrects it in their head, and moves on. The AI doesn't improve. The same wrong answer will appear tomorrow.

Error Detection Mechanisms

AI errors surface in predictable ways:

Explicit disagreement: User indicates the answer is wrong Implicit signals: User ignores recommendation, searches for same information elsewhere, or asks follow-up that suggests the answer didn't help Downstream failures: Decisions made on AI outputs produce bad outcomes Comparison validation: AI output differs from authoritative source

The system must watch for these signals. Passive AI that waits for explicit complaints misses most errors—users learn to work around bad AI rather than report every issue.

Correction Capture

When errors are detected, capturing corrections requires:

Low-friction interface: Correcting should take seconds, not minutes. If it's easier to just remember the right answer than to record it, people won't record it.

Structured format: Free-text corrections are hard to integrate. Structured corrections—"Entity X has attribute Y with value Z"—flow directly into knowledge graphs.

Context preservation: Capture not just the correction but the query that triggered it and the wrong answer that was given. This enables pattern analysis.

Attribution tracking: Know who made corrections and when. This enables quality control and identifies domain experts.

Knowledge Integration

Captured corrections must actually change AI behavior:

Immediate effect: Once a correction is submitted, subsequent queries should reflect the corrected information immediately

Conflict resolution: When corrections contradict existing knowledge, rules determine which wins (usually: most recent, from most authoritative source)

Relationship propagation: A correction to one entity should update related entities appropriately

Verification workflow: For high-stakes corrections, human review before integration may be appropriate

The knowledge graph is the natural integration point. Corrections update nodes and edges in the graph. Future queries traverse the updated graph.

Feedback loops create compounding improvement:

Month 1: AI accuracy starts at 70%. Users correct 30 errors. Month 2: Accuracy improves to 78%. Users correct 25 errors (fewer errors to find). Month 3: Accuracy reaches 84%. Users correct 15 errors. Month 6: Accuracy exceeds 90%. Corrections become rare.

Implementation Requirements

Building effective feedback loops requires:

UI integration: Correction interfaces embedded where users interact with AI—not separate tools they have to navigate to

Speed of incorporation: Corrections should affect AI behavior within minutes, not days or weeks

Trust in the process: Users need to see that their corrections actually make a difference, or they'll stop providing them

Expert identification: Some users are more authoritative than others. Weight corrections accordingly.

Quality control: Mechanisms to catch erroneous corrections before they degrade the knowledge base

Beyond accuracy improvement, feedback loops create strategic assets:

Knowledge preservation: Expert knowledge gets encoded in the system rather than walking out the door when people leave
